A record breaking year for the art industry has left many contemplating future trends and scrutinizing both existing and emerging vendor policies. Georgina Adam's recent article in The Art Newspaper points out the online marketplace trends, including eBay's third attempt at cyber art auctions to rival Amazon's recent launch of a similar breed, and transparency issues as they concern third-party galleries, auction rooms and their clients who can now legally buy and sell completely anonymously through online venues. Adams also points out the unmistakeable health of the fine art market, using examples such as attendance reports from Art Basel Miami and the emergence of newly named art fairs world-wide. It will be interesting to see how the mid-range market responds as wealth at the top generates investment interest in smaller auction houses across the country. Link to Georgina's article here.
